Our New Neighbor
I introduced myself to a new neighbor, an attractive psychiatrist who moved in across the street. “I’m single, fifty-five, have no kids, and I live with my mother. You’re going to want me on your couch. But soon it was me who needed her couch.”

The Bell
Early one morning, a strange sound woke me up. I followed it down to Mom’s room. I found her sitting up in bed, holding a tiny bell. Me: Please tell me you didn’t ring that to summon me. Mom: I most certainly did. Me: I will now take it from you so you never do that again. Mom: For Heaven’s sake why not? Me: Because I am not your servant. I am here out of love, not duty.
